Amy Geislinger loves helping people through different transitions in their lives. It’s something she’s been passionate about since she was a teenager and continues doing as a Minnesota Dream Team Realtor®.
“I’ve always had a heart for helping people. I am humbled every day with what I do in real estate,” Amy said. “It’s very eye opening just to see how one person can have a $400,000 house and then someone else can be struggling to buy toilet paper or soap.”
Turning her compassion into action, Amy serves on the board and volunteers with Working with a Purpose, a St. Paul based nonprofit that serves 100 homeless and unsheltered people each week. Joining other volunteers, she does wellness checks and gives out “blessing” bags filled with items for meeting basic needs, including granola and other food, water, and hot cocoa and hand warmers when it’s cold.
Every Thursday, Amy also volunteers for Westside Outreach, a nonprofit that partners with My Sister’s Mission to provide homeless and low-income people with necessities like clothing, shampoo, dish soap, or toilet paper.
Tapping into her wide network of friends and professionals, Amy has touched many lives. Recently, one of her home-seller clients donated four boxes to help those in need, and another woman donated multiple boxes of shoes, purses, and clothes.
Recognizing that active volunteerism is critical to the health of our communities, Amy is always encouraging others to get involved. Those interested taking the first steps can join Westside Outreach at its BBQ in Castillo Park in St. Paul on August 11. The charitable event will run from 1 to 6 pm.
