Originally from South Africa I moved to Toronto, Canada in 1996 to continue my career as a TV commercial film producer. A vacation to Hilton Head Island in 1994 became a permanent move.
I obtained my real estate license in 1995 and my Brokers license in 1997. I bought and renovated and 1031 exchanged a series of homes ending with a 6 bed 6 bath oceanfront home in 2001. I rented and managed it successfully until 2018. Real estate clients wanted to do the same so that became my speciality, oceanfront and ocean oriented properties suitable for short term rentals. I helped many clients make considerable income and profits.
In 2014 my wife and I bought the EXIT Realty franchise for Hilton Head and Bluffton. We grew the company to 20 agents. We sold the business, our cleaning company and our various properties in 2018 and 2019 and moved to Minneapolis. We also bought a medieval house in Brittany in 2018 which we totally restored.
In 2019 we bought a 1867 building that is on the Historic Register, in downtown Jordan MN, which is where we now live. In late 2022 we bought the abandoned America House Hotel in Jordan which was built in 1870 and had been vacant for 25 years. We are about to start renovating the property to bring it back to life.
Joann and are with KILT Real Estate Group, a boutique real estate company based in Richfield MN. We work out of the Jordan office. We joined KILT because it offers us the creative and marketing opportunities and flexibilities that allow us to represent our clients in the best possible ways.
