grandparents illustrationSeptember 13th is National Grandparents Day! A special occasion to cherish moments and memories with our grandparents. Grandparents Day is an opportunity to treasure that connection and spend some quality family time together. To help celebrate Minnesota’s gramps, granddads, nans, nanas, and grannies, we asked a few of our members who are grandparents what their favorite part about this most distinguished role is.

“My wife Donna and I are blessed with seven grandchildren ranging in age from 20 months to 17 years old. For us the best thing about being grandparents is having the time to watch them discover the world, to learn, and grow. As a parent you are so busy with the day-to-day requirements of work and raising children that you often don’t have the time to engage and observe, as we do, from a completely different perspective. The greatest gift is being able to spend time with them one on one.”
Richard Tucker – Lakeville

“The best part about being a grandparent is that I get to spoil them and then go home. They are all individuals and make it that much more interesting to be a small part of their lives. They make me smile every day of my life, from my senior in college to my nine-year-old super star soccer player all the way to the little one that rules the rest. I’m thankful to have a fishing partner, a golf partner, a reviewer, a friend, and a helper all at the same time. I Grandparenting is what makes me smile daily."
Jim Dattalo – Plymouth
