Denise volunteers with many local organizations and groups doing everything from being on boards, helping food drives, and supporting local artist communities and job transition groups.

And even through the pandemic, Denise has been stepping up and helping the community. This summer Denise helped conduct a food and supply drive for people affected by civil unrest in Minneapolis & Saint Paul. The drive lasted for many weeks, and their team collected about 60 pallets worth of diapers, formula, baby food, toilet paper, paper towels, baby wipes, toiletries, and food for many families across the Twin Cities.

Denise also regularly volunteers to support her community through The Open Door - a nonprofit that works to ensure people have access to fresh & nutritious food. The need during COVID19 continues to be strong, and Denise said that The Open Door is working to continue to find innovative ways to reach people who need fresh food.

Since March, Denise and other volunteers have served over 20,000 people, delivered more than 58,000 meals to low-income students, and continue to serve more than double the number of clients each month!
