Plants help brighten any space and studies show they reduce stress, boost your mood, and increase your productivity!

On this national houseplant appreciation day, bring some happiness into your home with a plant or two! Not sure where to start? Here are some good starter plants that are nearly impossible to kill & will help turn your space into a mood-boosting plant sanctuary!

Money Plant (aka Pilea peperomioides)
These circular buddies are a winter wonder. They prefer indirect light and only need to be watered once a week! Money plants also grow quickly, so you can give their budding babies to your friends to start their own plant collection. For this reason they are known as the pass along plant!

Snake Plant
The snake plant is a great plant for beginners as they are virtually indestructible - especially during the dark & gray winter months! They are not fussy plants and can tolerate being in any type of winter room - hot, cold, or dry!

Succulents are Excellent
Not all succulents are the same, but most make great starter plants. If you’re not sure where to start, try an aloe or jade plant.

Don’t have many windows or direct sunlight in your space? Aloe plants are perfect for you. They love indirect sunlight, and can be perched on a bookshelf or on your desk.

Worried you’ll be a forgetful plant parent? Jade plants do well with being scarcely watered, as they retain water in their leaves. Jade plants like direct sunlight, so place them next to a west or south-facing window.

Spider Plant🕷
Spider plants are another great house plant because they can handle neglect. They’re also great winter plants because like some Minnesotans, prefer cooler temps. Stick these bad boys next to a well-lit window and water them once a week!

Air Plant
Not a fan of dealing with dirt? The air plant is a great place to start. They can be placed almost anywhere - just remember to submerge them in water for a few hours every 10-12 days.
