U.S. Army veteran & Realtor® Steven James is on a mission to help his fellow veterans.
A member of the 4th Infantry Division of the US Army from 2011-2014, James served a tour in Afghanistan in 2012. When he returned to Minnesota, he began to think of ways he could help.
Steven began taking vets on hunting and fishing trips to help them adjust to life back home and enjoy the great outdoors.
After hearing the news that one of Steven’s soldiers had committed suicide, he decided to turn his grassroots group into a nonprofit to help as many vets as possible. So Steven officially founded Veterans In The Outdoors (VITO) in the spring of 2017 to help veterans and their loved ones reconnect with nature, combat PTSD, and promote suicide awareness.
The group selects veterans for a fishing or hunting experience to help them reconnect with nature and spread the enjoyment of the outdoors.
