As a dental hygienist and a Realtor® at Edina Realty, Brenda splits her time helping her clients find the perfect home and giving her patients great dental care.
Brenda also volunteers with Project Haiti Dental, an organization that provides training, mentorship, education, and donations to a dental clinic in Pignon, Haiti. The charity is the sister mission of Project Haiti, a non-profit that has provided medical care to the people of Pignon for over 30 years. Now dentists are joining the established crew of surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists to care for their community.
Because Project Haiti Dental is a fairly new program, getting it up and running has taken some creative thinking, understanding processes, and partnering with others to move the mission forward. The process has been similar to establishing a real estate career, Brenda observed.
“I knew with my clinical experience of being a registered dental hygienist and my skills in organization, leadership, and communication that have grown through being a Realtor®, I could provide value to the mission.”
Brenda traveled to Pignon last March to assess the needs of the clinic and help them so they can continue providing dental services to their community year-round.
She returned to Minnesota just mere days before COVID hit. But not even a global pandemic can slow down Brenda and her volunteer team. They are busy raising funds for Project Haiti Dental. Brenda hopes they can raise enough money to routinely send supplies, so the dental clinic can stay open and continue treating patients and spreading smiles in Pignon.
