Now is a great time to check in with your team members and make sure they’re getting the coaching and the latest information they need to be the best Realtors® they can be. In a virtual world, connection can be more difficult – but not impossible.
- Hold Regular Office Hours
While we may not physically work in the office as a team right now, hosting weekly office hours for colleagues to have regular check-in meetings brings consistency and routine.
These sessions can provide a platform and an open forum to discuss recent transactions, ask questions and hold each other accountable. This is also an opportunity to keep your team informed of any new policies, restrictions or other market updates that they should be aware of to do business ethically, legally and productively.
- Have Fun
Showing your goofy and human side is a short cut to connection. Have a silly zoom background from time to time, or share a real estate related joke. Some brokers embrace the “cheese factor” of a good pun and add that as a staple to all of their meetings. Fun can be a simple as starting your meetings with your dog or as often as a monthly happy hour. In the flurry of activity it can be easy to forget we are human, and that we are in this business because we love what we do – and with that perspective it’s usually easy to find the fun.
- Phone Your Agents
Emails, texts and zoom calls are great… but sometimes an impromptu phone call to simply check in and ask your agents if they need anything from you can be extremely effective as a connection point in addition to uncovering anything they may actually need from you.
Even if just to say “hi and great job” (when’s the last time you did that by the way) - let them know you are thinking of them. Instead of asking your team members to get in touch when they need to, frequently connecting with them allows you to have a finger on the pulse of what’s going on and let them know you are there for them.
- Spread Positivity
Positive feedback is one of the best ways to encourage your team. Really think about the last time you gave your team praise… and not generic praise during a team meeting. But taking the time to give them personal and comprehensive positive feedback on the things they are doing that is helping to move the team and their career forward. No one gets too successful, too old, or too used to positive feedback – so keep it flowing!
- Give Back
At a time when so many feel disconnected, giving your team a chance to pull together as a group to do some good in the community is an activity that always pays off. Organize a drive, collect donations, or simply perform random acts of kindness. The connection fueled by service is a meaningful one.
