How did you get into real estate?
“It was accidental. I had been working at US Bank as a programmer, and I was always looking at homes and duplexes in addition to renovating my second duplex. A coworker finally asked me one day “why aren’t you selling real estate?”. I had never thought of that before, and within about 6 months I had my license and was no longer at US Bank.”
Best way to stay positive
“Every day has the potential to share a laugh, have a connection, witness something beautiful, or provide an opportunity to be able to do something for someone else.”
Favorite Minnesota summer activity
“Camping, being on a boat and Pride activities!”
As President of the Minnesota chapter, tell us about the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance
“This is a local and national network of Realtors® and others who play a role in homeownership. Nationwide, the rate of homeownership for LGBTQ+ is 49% - which substantially lower than the general population at 64%. Factor into the equation that LGBTQ+ folks are also the minorities within the minorities. The LGBTQ+ Alliance is also about harnessing the financial power that individuals Have. Using our resources to specifically support businesses that support equality can and does have n impact. As individuals we may not feel like we can make much of a difference – however collectively we have a lot of financial power. Finally, the LGBTQ+ Alliance is also about supporting the community. Each chapter works closely with local non-profits that is supportive of diverse/minority communities.”
