Matthew Spellman has been named Minnesota Realtors® Senior Director of Advocacy. Matt has been with the organization since 2017, when he was hired as the Director of Political Affairs.

He came to the organization after acting as the Committee Legislative Assistant for the Health and Human Services Committee in the Minnesota Senate. There he learned the true fundamentals of how a bill becomes law and what role advocates play in that process. It was this legislative staffing experience that made his transition to the Director of Governmental Affairs for the Minnesota Realtors® a natural progression. He has been serving as part of the lobbying team since 2018, where he has further developed his extensive knowledge of the legislative process and honed his advocacy skills.

Matt is an integral part of the Governmental Affairs department here at Minnesota Realtors®, and we’re confident that he will continue to help us protect, promote, and advance the real estate industry in the state.” said MNR CEO, Josh McFall.

MNR Senior Vice President of Governmental Affairs, Paul Eger, added: “Since joining us six years ago, Matt has worked tirelessly to advocate for our members and for the real estate industry. Realtors®, homeowners, and prospective homeowners alike are better off because of Matt’s service. He will undoubtedly excel in this new role.”

Matt earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities in Political Science with a Minor in Philosophy. He and his wife have a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, who keeps them plenty busy outside of work.

Matt will continue to represent Minnesota Realtors® at the State Capitol during the Legislative Sessions, and will now be the lead staff person in the development and implementation of MN-RPAC’s annual fundraising plan. He’ll also serve as the staff liaison to the MN-RPAC Board of Trustees, lead the development and implementation of MN-RPAC’s campaign activity, and serve as the key staff liaison to MNR’s Key Contacts and Federal Political Coordinators.

Please help us congratulate Matt on this new position!
