Complete Your CE by June 15 to Avoid Potential License Disruptions!

Good Afternoon Realtors®,

We encourage you to complete your Continuing Education (CE) requirements by June 15, 2025, if possible. A partial government shutdown could disrupt CE processing and impact real estate license renewals for both brokers and real estate salespersons. Here's what you need to know:

What's Happening at the Legislature

The Minnesota Legislature adjourned on May 19 without passing the commerce budget bill-a critical piece of legislation that supports the Department of Commerce (DOC), the agency responsible for processing your CE and license renewals. Without passage of this bill, the DOC would shut down on July 1, 2025, creating major delays for license renewals and CE transcript updates.

Key Dates to Remember

  • June 1: Layoff notices go out to state employees

  • June 15: Date MNR encourages members to complete CE to avoid license disruptions

  • June 30: Official DOC deadline for CE completion and license renewals

  • July 1: Potential DOC shutdown-CE and license renewals could be delayed

What This Means for You

For Realtors®/Salespersons and Brokers:

You must complete 30 hours of CE every two years, with 15 hours due by June 30 each year. For the current period, you must complete the 2024-2025 Required Module: Risk Management and Minnesota License Procedures (3.75 hours of CE). MNR offers this DOC-approved required module FREE and ON DEMAND for our members.

Complete your required module and other CE courses by June 15 to avoid delays if the DOC shuts down on July 1. Check your CE status and transcript on the Pulse Portal. If recent CE is not listed, contact your course provider right away. Providers have up to 10 days to upload completed CE lists to the Pulse Portal.

For Brokers Only:

As a Primary Broker, you are responsible for completing your own CE (as detailed in the section above), as well as ensuring all agents under your license have completed their required CE by June 30, 2025. It's critical to:

  • Verify all licenses are CE-compliant at Pulse Portal → "Review your CE Transcript."

  • If a course does not appear on an agent's transcript, contact the course provider immediately.

  • Submit mass license renewals by 11:59 PM Central on June 30. Renewals must be completed at www.pulseportal.com.

For renewal instructions, visit the Commerce License Renewal Page.

MNR will keep you updated as new information becomes available.

Commercial-Only Exemption:
"Commercial-only" brokers and salespersons who are engaged solely in the commercial real estate business and whose commercial-only status has been verified with the Commerce Department through the required filing do not have to complete a course on agency law, a course on fair housing, and a specific module training course, but must fulfill all other continuing education requirements.
