Minnesota Realtors® Awarded $50,000 Grant to Support Beltrami County Residents Impacted by Devastating Storms

Up to $1,000 in direct assistance available per qualified household 


Minnesota Realtors® (MNR) has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the REALTORS® Relief Foundation (RRF) to help homeowners and residents in Beltrami County, including the city of Bemidji, recover from the catastrophic storms and hurricane-force winds that struck the region on June 21, 2025. 

The grant will provide direct assistance of up to $1,000 per household to homeowners whose primary residence was damaged by fallen trees, debris, or other structural harm caused by the storms. Renters who were completely displaced from their homes may also qualify for assistance. Additionally, families who needed to seek shelter at a hotel due to unsafe conditions or power outages may be eligible for reimbursement. 

Relief funds are intended to help cover immediate housing-related expenses that insurance does not fully address, restoring critical housing stability as the community works to rebuild. 

WHO CAN APPLY—see Required documentation check list 

  1. Homeowners—Monthly mortgage expense for the primary residence that was damaged by the Disaster or;  

  1. Renters—Rental cost due to displacement from the primary residence resulting from the Disaster or;  

  1. Hotel reimbursement due to displacement from the primary residence resulting from the Disaster. Relief assistance is limited to a maximum of $1,000 per household.

Gather Your Required Documents

1. Photo Identification to Show Proof of Residency [i.e. driver's license or other governmental documentation evidencingresidency].

2. Copy of Mortgage Statement or New Lease Agreement or Hotel Receipt 
One of the Following is Required to Show Proof of Damage to your Primary Residence: 

a. Photos of Damages. 

b. Insurance Estimate. 

c. Copies of Written Claims, Settlement Proceeds or Claim Status Reports. 

d. Copies of Repair Estimates from Contractors.

MNR submits your application to NAR’s REALTOR Relief Foundation for approval.

MNR coordinates with local association to disburse relief funds to applicant.

Please note this assistance is for housing relief only; other expenses including second mortgages (home equity lines or loans), clothing, appliances, equipment, vehicle purchase, rental or repair, and or mileage are ineligible for reimbursement under this program.
