Ken Larson, a Duluth-based Realtor® with Edina Realty, has been named one of five recipients of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) annual Good Neighbor Awards, which recognize members making extraordinary community impacts.
Larson, founder of the Northern Lights Foundation, began the non-profit in 2006 to honor the memory of his daughter Nicole, who was tragically lost as a newborn. Larson turned his unimaginable grief into a beacon of hope for many, rallying the Duluth community to ensure families and children feel supported during their darkest days. To date, the foundation has raised more than $1.5 million and provided grants to over 300 families whose children face life-threatening illnesses. As part of receiving the distinguished Good Neighbor Award, Larson’s foundation will receive a $10,000 grant from NAR.
“Ken’s efforts go far beyond helping clients buy or sell a home,” said Minnesota Realtors® CEO Josh McFall. “Through his foundation, Ken delivers hope, uplifts families, and builds communities every single day. This is an amazing honor, and Ken is deeply deserving.”
Brenda Barnhardt, CEO of the Lake Superior Area Realtors® in Duluth—Larson’s local Realtor® association—added: “Ken embodies the spirit of community by promoting neighbor-to-neighbor care, kindness, and support. As a local Realtor® practicing in Duluth, it’s not solely about making a living—it's also about building a stronger community for all.”
The Good Neighbor Awards celebrate Realtors® who commit their time, funds, energy and expertise to volunteer causes that create positive change in their communities. NAR’s program is supported by primary sponsor Realtor.com®. For more information on the work of the Northern Lights Foundation, read NAR’s profile on Ken Larson.
Congratulations, Ken!
